Latest happenings
Well we've had an interesting week here. Dustin is still in Japan, so aside from us all missing him its been pretty crazy here.
The girls were both sick last week and it peaked on Friday when Violet got so wheezy she was having trouble breathing. Mum and I took her to Emergency at the Mater and Dad took care of Olivia. In the end they admitted her and put her on c-pap for oxygen. She stayed there until last night (Sunday) when we were able to take her home. I stayed with her and slept on the couch next to her. The poor little thing was so unhappy and sick and cried when she was awake. Friday night was the worst, it was 7 hours in the emergency ward (sitting on a couple of chairs which we were lucky to have as other people were sitting on the floor) before we had a cot for her. Thank goodness Mum was with me or i would have gone mad. We kept eachother company and passed Violet back and forth during that time to give eachothers arms a rest.
So they left the oxygen on initially for 24 hours, she responded well to it. She hated being attached to the tubes, she also had a clamp on her foot so they could check her levels. Needless to say she was trying to pull everything off constantly, setting off the alarms all night and my favourite was when the nurse told me to 'watch she doesn't choke herself with the nasal tube' .. so i was scared to fall asleep in case she did. Anyway we're home now ! We were so happy to see Olivia, who was passed around the family while i was away and had lots of attention and one-on-one fun.
Its funny to watch the girls now, a complete role reversal, Violet is so quiet and playing with her toys, anything is a novelty to her after spending 48 hours hooked up to tubes in a little metal cot (jail cell) .. she appreciates everything.. . and Livi who is usually my quiet baby is all diva-ish after spending 48 hours having undivided attention and new faces to entertain her, she whines if you arn't giving her all your time and tries to steal the limelight at all times. As soon as Violet is healthy again she'll push Livi back into 2IC position i'm sure.
I'm pretty sick myself now, i was doing great until my weekend getaway in the 'infectious kids ward'.. so i'm downing the Vitamin C so i can get back on track.
I havn't been able to take any more photos lately because the camera is broken but Dustin is bringing one home from japan so i'll be back to taking pictures of their every move and posting it soon.
Hope everyone is well
